Union: US Province Associate Honored for Documentary on Trafficking

Over a period of about a year, WDAY-TV reporter Kevin Wallevand (Presentation Associate) and photographer Cody Rogness traveled between Fargo and western North Dakota’s oil patch, documenting the stories of sex trafficking survivors there. The program took a look at the dirty little secret of human trafficking in the oil patch. They profiled the courageous women who fought to get out of that world, and the people who worked tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.

On Monday, October 10 in New York City, WDAY-TV, Fargo, N.D., was awarded a national Edward R. Murrow award—one of the most prestigious awards for TV and radio news—for  Wallevand and Rogness’ work, which culminated in a half-hour documentary called “Trafficked” that aired in conjunction with a weeklong series of stories under the same name published by Forum News Service.

Kevin Wallevand has been a Presentation Associate in the Fargo area since 1999.
