UNION US PROVINCE: Fashion Show Fundraiser at Presentation Learning Center

Presentation Learning Center in Watts held its annual fashion show fundraiser on Saturday, March 12. The theme was “Rock ‘n Roll,” which delighted the 240 people in attendance. An excellent Elvis impersonator started the show with a great performance which had everyone screaming and jumping up like teenagers! A delicious lunch followed, catered by In-N-Out Burger, which has a huge fan base in Southern California.
Twenty-five sewing students at Presentation Learning Center modeled their 50s outfits, which they had designed and sewn themselves during this school year. A silent auction and basket raffle concluded the day, which was deemed fabulous by all in attendance. This year’s event was dedicated to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange and Carondolet who have collaborated with our own Presentation Sisters at the Learning Center for 16 years. The entire Provincial Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet was in attendance, along with over 30 of their sisters. Five of their sisters who currently teach at the Center were honored, with Sister Louise Bernstein as the guest of honor. Sister Mary Bernadette dancing2WEBMcNulty, the assistant congregational leader of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, was present and honored for her congregation’s faithful support during these past 16 years, particularly by sharing her own expertise along with her congregation’s financial support of the Center. We are blessed to walk and minister hand in hand with the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Proceeds from this year’s annual fundraiser for Presentation Learning Center will pay for painting the inside of the Center, along with replacing window blinds and white boards. While the painting is being done by a professional painting company, students at the Center packed all the books and removed everything from shelves while a team from Habitat for Humanity removed old blinds, white boards and bulletin boards in preparation for painting. The Habitat team will return when the painting is completed to install the new blinds and whiteboards.
