Union US – Sisters Rejoice in 70 Years of Dedication

1947 was a very good year! Nine young women traveled from Ireland to Sacred Heart Convent in Fargo, North Dakota. Six companions have preceded Sisters Pauline Egan, Agatha Lucey and Olivia Sculley to heaven. These three (remaining) women continue their original zest for life and adventure as they celebrate 70 years of vowed life.  Their presence and inspiration continue to bless the community each day. It was 138 years ago on July 22 that Mother John Hughes and Mother Agnes Hughes came to the part of Dakota territory, we know as Fargo, North Dakota. Sister Elaine Goodell Celebrates 75th Jubilee Sister Elaine Goodell was born in Reeder, N.D., grew up in Alexandria, Bridgewater and graduated from Parker High School, Parker, S.D. She attended Notre Dame Junior College in Mitchell, S.D., receiving an associate teaching degree. She went on to earn a bachelor’s in piano and music education from Alverno College, Milwaukee, Wisc., a master’s in music and a doctorate in musical arts from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.
