During their annual community days, Dubuque Presentation Sisters and associates participated in an activity prepared by the Justice Promoter Committee. The activity engaged participants in a simulation entitled “Racial Wealth and Income Gap” which some observed as an “eye-opening experience.” Developed by NETWORK, the Catholic Lobby for Social Justice, the game assigns roles to participants who then experience financial advancement or worsening based on U.S. laws and policies that have protected a climate of discrimination. Sister Petronilla Metzger will celebrate her 100 birthday on September 27.  She has been a sister for 78 years and has ministered in elementary/secondary education, religious education, pastoral care, and spiritual direction in the Diocese of Fargo. In partnership with the Watertown Coalition and Mother of God Monastery, we continue our education and awareness efforts on the issue of sex trafficking. For the next year, we will have this message displayed on two billboards. It will be posted all year on a billboard located west of Aberdeen on Hwy 12 and the Mina Lake turnoff. On August 17 two sisters of the Union of the Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrated jubilees of profession. Profession of religious vows was made by Sister Janice Ihli 60 years ago and by Sister Marilyn Omieczynski 50 years ago. Sister Janice taught in parish schools in Fargo, New Rockford and Langdon, North Dakota. She served many years in religious formation in parishes and in diocesan offices.
