In keeping with the spirit of Nano Nagle and our promise to promote direct ministry to the poor, Dubuque Presentation Sisters celebrated Christmas from a distance with the residents from the Dubuque Rescue Mission on Saturday, December 11. Instead of having the residents as their dinner guests at Mount Loretto, a cash donation was given to the mission to be used for a catered dinner. The sisters missed sharing a meal with them and welcoming them into their home, but they know it was not possible this year.

As in the past, each resident was provided with a bag of warm winter items including a jacket or sweatshirt, gloves, hats, socks and handmade scarves by Sister Louise Scieszinski. The bags, donated by Hy-Vee, also included Christmas stockings filled with candy, nuts and fruit. Associate Sue Murphy provided the stockings and the food service department provided the goodies to fill them. Thanks to Theisens and their generous discounts, the sisters were able to purchase more items with the donations.
