Union: US – Nano Nagle Heritage Day at St. Gregory the Great School

April 26, 2016, the anniversary of Nano Nagle’s death, was highlighted in a remarkable way at St. Gregory the Great School, San Antonio, Texas.

Most of the Presentation Sisters at Callaghan Road had spent many years teaching in that great school … so April 26, reminded those at the school of this significant date. A retired teacher and friend, Gerry Wussler, assumed the character of Nano in the familiar monologue and captivated the entire student body as she moved from Ballygriffin to Paris, to ministering in Cork.

Each grade at St. Gregory’s had an outreach project in 2016 for those in need, and Gerry (Nano) affirmed them as expressions of Nano’s work today in San Antonio. The sisters present were presented with a lantern-like candle, made especially for the occasion by Grade 7.

One thing for sure, St. Gregory the Great School is carrying Nano’s spirit of “compassionate action, for those in need” today and the lantern light shines on!
