Sisters, associates and other members of the general public attended a presentation by Tim Mathern at Sacred Heart Convent, Fargo on March 8, 2018. The title of the discourse, “Let\u2019s Talk About Politics and Religion at Easter Dinner,\u201d described the thesis of the presentation and ensuing discussion\u2014the common good requires that we talk about the intersection of faith and civil policy with family and friends. \u00a0Tim believes the principles of Catholic social teaching should permeate all aspects of our lives. The practice of civil discourse with family and friends prepares one for influencing public policy.<\/p>\n
Tim is director of public policy at Prairie St. John\u2019s Hospital. He chairs the governing board of a local food co-op and is a member of Nativity Church.\u00a0 Tim has been a state senator since 1986 and was a recipient of the Nano Nagle Award in 1995.\u00a0 He is pictured with Sister Stella Olson, local leader of Sacred Heart Convent.
