Our sisters had the joy of surrounding Sister Michele O’Connell, native of County Clare, Ireland, as she celebrated her birthday as she did every year of her life: on St. Patrick’s Day, this year for the 100th time.
The President of Ireland sent his best wishes in a congratulatory letter that included a handwritten Gaelic message, “With every blessing for the future and thanksgiving for life.” Sister Michele’s sister and other family members in four countries on two continents sent a video birthday card, making it a very happy day.
On Easter Sunday, Sister Michele went home to God. As we rejoiced with her on her birthday, we are now consoled by the Good News of the resurrection.
