True to their founding, the Presentation Sisters have always gone where there are unmet needs to bring their ministry and mission to the people. Many of the sisters have been involved in healthcare ministry over the years. In 1901, the Aberdeen congregation turned their school into a hospital to care for sick during a diphtheria epidemic. This hospital is now part of the Avera Health umbrella of healthcare facilities that the Aberdeen congregation co-sponsors.
As physician’s assistants, nurses, chaplains, hospice ministers or in other healthcare areas, the Presentation Sisters continue to ministry to the physical and spiritual health of God’s people.
