Food, laughter, words on forgiveness and mercy, and singing were all present as the Presentation Prayer Center held its 32nd annual fundraiser brunch in October. The Presentation Prayer Center in partnership with master of arts program in leadership at the University of Jamestown, Fargo campus, brought in the events keynote speaker Shann Ray Ferch, Ph.D., from Spokane, Wash. Ferch is a professor of psychology and forgiveness studies at Gonzaga University.

With over 200 participants in attendance, Ferch, author of American Copper, Forgiveness and Power in the age of Atrocity, and American Masculine, spoke of his life growing up in Montana and how he learned the importance of forgiveness by the example of his family and friends he was fortunate enough to meet along his life’s journey. Besides the touching personal stories, Ferch also talked about the scientific side of forgiveness and how people with a higher capacity for forgiveness have less depression, anxiety, anger, and less heart disease than the general public. Ferch was an engaging speaker, often breaking out in song and also engaging those in attendance with questions for them to answer.

All at the Presentation Prayer Center-board of directors, staff, and volunteers–felt the great support at this event. We are excited to continue the mission of the Presentation Prayer Center of “collaborating with individuals and groups in nurturing mind, body and soul to discover ever-deepening relationships with God, self, and others.”
